Glossary
The vocabulary of sovereign data, defined.
Sovereignty, compliance, interoperability: the key terms, explained simply.
- Digital sovereignty souveraineté
- Effective control over your data and its processing: where it resides, who can access it, and under which law. It is Polnor's reason to exist.
- SecNumCloud France
- ANSSI's qualification for a trusted cloud: security and immunity from non-EU extraterritorial law. OVHcloud's public cloud is SecNumCloud 3.2 qualified; Polnor runs on it.
- CLOUD Act souveraineté
- US law letting US authorities compel data held by a US provider, even stored in Europe. This is what disqualifies US clouds for sensitive data.
- FISA 702 souveraineté
- US legal basis for surveillance of non-US persons' communications, which compounds the CLOUD Act to make US law applicable to your data at a US provider.
- BYOC architecture
- Bring Your Own Cloud: you bring your own cloud account (OVHcloud), the platform deploys into it, and your data never leaves your perimeter. You pay the infra directly to your provider.
- Data-less control plane architecture
- How Polnor operates: the control plane orchestrates compute but neither stores nor sees your data. It stays in your cloud.
- Reversibility architecture
- The ability to retrieve your data and leave without penalty. At Polnor, your data is in the open Apache Iceberg format, in your account: no lock-in.
- Apache Iceberg architecture
- Open table format for lakehouses. Your data stays readable by any engine: the foundation of reversibility.
- “Cloud at the center” doctrine France
- The French State's doctrine: administrations must use a SecNumCloud-qualified or “trusted” cloud for sensitive data.
- DORA finance
- EU regulation on digital operational resilience for the financial sector: requires control and localization of critical processing, which sovereignty enables.
- HDS hébergement
- Health Data Host (Hébergeur de Données de Santé): France's mandatory certification for hosting health data. Polnor deploys on an HDS-certified host (OVHcloud).
- EHDS Europe
- European Health Data Space: the EU framework for sharing and reusing health data. Polnor produces EHDS-compatible exports.
- FHIR standard
- The interoperability standard for health systems (patients, results, prescriptions). Polnor speaks it natively.
- HL7 v2 standard
- The messaging standard that has run hospital IT for 30 years (ADT, ORU). Polnor ingests it as-is and converts to FHIR.
- OMOP standard
- The reference data model for observational research (OHDSI). Standardizing to OMOP makes your analyses reproducible.
- EDS entrepôt
- Health data warehouse: the single environment where your data is consolidated for analytics and AI. Polnor is a modern, open, sovereign one.
- Lakehouse architecture
- A single platform uniting large-scale storage, analytics and AI. Polnor's technical foundation.
- De-identification RGPD
- Removing or masking identifiers so a person is no longer recognizable. Automated by Polnor, in your cloud.
- Cohort analytique
- A group of patients matching defined criteria. The foundational unit of clinical research and AI training.
- DICOM imagerie
- The global medical-imaging standard: every image travels with its patient and exam metadata.
